Just a quick note to say I've uploaded the first part of a walk through on how I prepare models for Muvizu and some advice on marriage to my website http://www.animationworkshop.co.uk/hbc.html . Its quite a complex model so I will be going through UVW unwrapping, collision meshes and texturing.

This is not however a tutorial, or meant as one...just a diary on my progress with the model, but it may be of help...if nothing else it will demonstrate how thick I am on occasion!
Oh and before I forget WARNING: may contain the occasion eff and blind...there was something else...oh yeah
WARNING: MAY CONTAIN NUTS!

I've got to add that this is version 20b. When going back to the 19b 64 bit version, the problem goes away.

Muvizu is Loading

I use Muvizu with kids in school. Teenagers tend to expect everything to happen instantly, including the loading of computer programs. If it doesn’t look like the program is loading they will click on the icon again (and again) to help it along it along. During those 10 - 15 secs they may reclick half a dozen times. Sir - its not working ! Then of course the poor PC gradually displays the 6, 7, or 8, instances of Muvizu it is valiantly trying to run before it grinds to a complete halt. It would be really handy to have some sort of little animated Hang On -Muvizu is Loading graphic on screen .

Another camera feature I'd like to have - the ability to copy/paste a camera 'In Place', as Sketchup would call it. I mean being able to have the camera 'remember' it's coordinates in one set, and being able to paste the camera in the same position/angle in another set. Or, if that's not do-able, an additional properties box that would allow us to look up the absolute coordinates of the camera in relation to the world so that we can replicate that ourselves in a different set (however tedious that may be!).
The reason I ask is that I need to be able to mask in various shots (of an audience too big to allow me to animate without the timeline taking 6 or 7 seconds to respond to EVERY command) and the only way to do it is to remove the audience completely, and put them back in later. The 1 minute/2gb limit on using a decent codec (IYUV) means I have to do it in little chunks, in different sets, and it's driving me mad. Mad, I tells ya.

Those are good vids, very straight forward advice for using Sunny Vegas (!!). The 'Mask Only' bit on Chroma Keying actually makes sense now, thanks for pointing us there

Yep, the character goes underground. If you follow him there you won't be able to return back to the set. We are gathering all the info we can so we can squash this bugger.
Thanks everyone.

Anyway... We manage to reproduce this without the characters standing on objects/backdrops. It is still a very rare occurrence though. Thankfully I've not had this happen to me... And I've never found myself in pursuit of a goat either incidentally!

Chasing a goat is all above board and legal, it's when you start acting the goat that you have to start filling in legal aid forms and avoiding questions from the local press!

Something I've noticed about the 'disappearing' trick - it only happens when movement is involved. Everyone's posts on it always mention movement, and I've only had it happen to me when movement has been assigned to a character. It's almost like the characters are teleporting to the wrong place (but at the right time). Just a fot.

When this happens, are the characters standing on top of a stage or objects?

Anyone use AVS? quality lost from Muvizu to AVS...

I'm definitely no expert when it comes to codecs or video editors for that matter but I've been using AVS video editor for awhile now and I haven't had any problems. The final file sizes I get from AVS have been pretty good too.
Most all of the animations I've created up to now have been created with AVS.
It's not the most "robust" video editor available but it has enough "bells and whistles" to allow me to create pretty much what I want thus far. I also have Sony Vegas Pro installed on my system and once I learn how to use it better I plan on using it for video editing but for now AVS is getting the job done.
Mysto, did you register AVS? I just used AVS to edit my next Toon which is basically done, I just need to rerender it if I decide to register AVS...Not sure though, because I read people have issues w/AVS being a legit purchase? Like it's ripping them off and/or failing after they register it. Please let me know if anyone has had issues with registering AVS. I also downloaded videopad, sony vegas, avs, avs seems easy...I'm using the free version so I have the watermark. I'm trying ti figure out which editor has the easiest audio editing features....Sony was kickin out huge file sizes for me and I am not yet savvy with creating variations in volume throughout different tracks....

OK, this is not just specifically useful for Muvizu but if you're using any iteration of Vegas and are trying to get to grips with it then go to youtube and type guerillabill (Bill Myers channel). When you are on the channel then just type vegas on the channel search bar and there are a ton of tutorials. For me at least, these are the best produced and most straightforward tutorials going and most are only about 3 minutes long.
The tutorials that helped me most for combining muvizu and live action were: Secret for great chromakey (ie green screen) Pan and crop Slow motion
There are a load of little tricks on the other tutorials however that can be used to help add effects to muvizu.

For free music can also try links from http://www.seabreezecomputers.com/tips/freemusic.htm
It has a link to Kevin Mcleod's site but has links to a few other similar sites.
