I just played around with the new ASE-import function and imported the kubelwagon model from Katsbits.
After saving the scene and reopening later the texture is not shown, although its still activated (see picture left side - reloading of the texture with same result). But when I import the whole model again it looks fine except for the ground recognition (picture right side) ?

Will it also be possible to save imported objects in Muvizu ?

Yep I've been playing with this too ...I have the problem that when an object has too many colour options the selection panel/window is too large and runs off the bottom of the screen with no scroll option ...is there a way round this

Hi Tripfreak, thanks for reporting this issue.
After investigating further we have discovered that if you select "Map Alpha to > Opacity Mask" when importing objects the textures are saved with the rest of the model.
We are looking into a fix, but this workaround should work in the meantime.
Stonehead,
If you select "ID Texture > Use ID Textures" the menu should be smaller - I will also be making a tutorial for editing objects to increase their compatibility with Muvizu.
Take care, -Jim.

Yeah, hmmm... seems there is some problem here. Not sure what it is yet.
Though if I do as Jim suggested below - with the Alpha->OpacityMask, it does seem to work for me. Without that I get some different effect (plain coloured) - and not the checkered pattern tripfreak had below.
Some ASE's are definitely causing problems - if people wanna send some of the problematic ones (+any textures) to bugs@muvizu.com, we'll see about fixing this for the next release.

Hi Stonehead,
There is a fix being implemented at the moment, so it should make it's way into the release pretty soon.
Take care, -Jim.

Great stuff Jim thanks I have just had some success with imported ASE's but I had to set them up before rendering... the ouput was fine.
Cheers Ian

I tried using the ASE import created from sketchup and everything worked fine. I have the bmp in C:\ut3\toto.bmp at 256x256 pixels.
The mesh allows me to change the colours fine and has more than 2 colour id's to change and all is good (unless too many colours means you can't get to the bottom of the box.)
But on saving and reloading the set the mesh has just 2 colours and seems to have a lot of the surfaces disapeared.
This seems to happen with every mesh from sketchup and I even tried the Map Alpha to > Opacity Mask option too.
Help please... edited by Than on 9/9/2010

Hi Than Jim told me a trick to get over the colour selection ...basically you import and select "use ID Textures" then the box is a much smaller version. As to the other problem of disappearing faces and textures on reload I'm afraid I get exactly the same however Jim has posted today saying there is an update coming soon to fix it ...I have been using the pink strange looking models as place holders and reloading them when I am ready to render ...a bit of a bugga but the render is fine Good luck Ian
